The General Assembly of Local Democratic Elected Members was held today.
At the end of today's work, the Assembly of Local Elected was convened at the initiative of a group of mayors, emerging from the last local elections, headed by Mayor Kavajë, Fisnik Qosja, Mayor Memaliaj, Albert Malaj, Mayor of Mirdita Municipality, Albert Mylyshi, Mayor Pukë Rrok Dodaj, Mayor Has Miftar Dauti, Mayor Fushë-Arrëz Hil Curri, elected new leaders, and the mayor of Kavaja, Fisnik Qosja, will be at the head of it.
The purpose of the assembly was:
1. To express the attitude of local elected officials towards the farce of local elections on May 14 and the necessity of free voting.
2. To encourage Mayors and Municipal Councilors in the struggles for strengthening and restoring local autonomy in Albania.
3. To engage local elected officials in the challenges of protecting and deepening local democracy, decentralization, integration, public services and financing, regional development, the consequences of territorial reform and other issues.
4. The election of new representative bodies of the Association of Municipalities of Albania.
At the end of the work, the assembly:
-Approved the resolution as the will of the elected, as well as electing the president of the association, Mr. Fisnik Qosja.
