The vice-president and the chairman of the group of councilors of the PL Municipality of Tirana, Endrit Braimllari, in a statement to the media, spoke about the seizure of Tirana's incinerator by SPAK.
Braimllari said that the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, cannot avoid criminal responsibility, as he calls SPAK to react, since every delay weighs on citizens' pockets and taxes.
"At Friday's meeting of the municipal council of Tirana, Erion Veliaj finally certified the guilt and co-authorship for the incinerator of Tirana.
Under the seizure of SPAK and investigative procedures, Erion Veliaj decided to transfer 5.7 million euros to Tirana's incinerator, removing this money from Tirana's taxpayers and the items in the municipality's budget.
Erion Veliaj takes the money he receives from the education tax, so to make it clearer, the money that the citizens of Tirana pay for their children's education, for kindergartens and nurseries, goes to the incinerator, which does not exist.
Erion Veliaj continues to aggravate his position, openly violating the law and defying SPAK, which is investigating this matter.
Erion Veliaj cannot avoid his criminal responsibility and be acquitted in relation to his firm, which has changed the fate of the incinerator concession.
Erion Veliaj with his firm, taking the responsibilities of the municipal council, opened the way for the contract with the incinerator of Tirana.
The citizens of Tirana pay 29 euros per ton every day, although they do not receive the service according to the contract.
But Erion Veliaj does not stop at 29 euros per ton and 80 thousand dollars per day, but with yesterday's decision with the vote of his advisors, he passed another 6 million euros to the incinerator.
SPAK must react to the challenge that Erion Veliaj is making to the justice system. Every delay weighs on the pockets and taxes of the citizens of Tirana.
Erion Veliaj should be taken as a defendant and bear legal responsibility for his role in the Tirana incinerator affair," he said.
