The former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, testified today in the GJKKO regarding the "Gërdeci" file, as he also commented on the call to testify of the son of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Shkëlzen Berisha.
In a statement to journalists, Mediu said that the witnesses should be called and tell the truth as it is.
"It is necessary to call the witnesses. Even those who are not inside the country have ways to testify. I call in the name of truth for everyone to speak and tell the truth as it is. Military dignitaries must be recalled. The ministers I asked to be called should also be called. Otherwise, we will go with the old concept that the army is the party", said Mediu.
Asked by journalists if Shkëlzen Berisha was an indispensable witness, Mediu did not hesitate to defend him, stating that he has nothing to do with this process.
"He has nothing to do with me in this process. If he had, there was another way of proceeding.
Two witnesses refused to testify. Do you think that everyone else will take the same position?
I have the highest appreciation for the employees of the Ministry of Defense. I also asked the court that the statements they made in court be considered and the truth be proven through their testimonies. It is in their interest to declare their position before this court," said Mediu.
