Socialist MP Erion Braçe recalled on social media May 28, 1996, when security forces led by Agim Shehu and Bashkim Gazidede brutally raped the leaders of the then opposition, the Socialist Party, and its allies. The opposition protested two days after the massively rigged elections of May 26, but police officers in suits and batons, as well as members of the SHIK, raped opposition leaders and supporters, including foreign journalists, who were following developments in Albania at the time.
Erion Braçe was one of those who experienced the animalistic violence of May 28, 1996, while in his online post he writes that May 28 came after May 26, not numerically, but as violence upon violence, blood upon blood, handcuffs upon handcuffs!

30 years away from the most barbaric violence ever inflicted by the government in a democracy against the leftist people, the Albanians robbed in the elections!
May 28 came after May 26, not numerically, but as violence upon violence, blood upon blood, handcuffs upon handcuffs!
The day began with the siege of the headquarters of the largest party in the country. People had been inside it since the night before, fearing that on May 28 they would not be allowed to reach Skanderbeg Square. It was only a few meters away.
The siege did not last long. A large stream of people was coming from every road leading to the SP headquarters and Skanderbeg Square. They gathered in front of and around the SP and all together broke the siege, took the police in front and went out into the square!

Anyone who entered the square was brutally beaten, made to lie on the ground and dragged by the hair, anyone who was near the beating square was chased. Police with batons, not rubber batons but batons like the tails of shovels, all the way to the train in the north, to Zogu i Zi in the west, to 21 Decjetori in the west, to Vasil Shanto in the southwest, across Student City in the southeast, across the New Bazaar in the east.
They were shooting in the streets, entering stores, hitting anyone, even women!
I have never seen more bloody faces in my life!
That was it!
To anyone who says to me today, "what's wrong with you," on the right and on the left, from those who have their own journey, I wish they had lived it, even if it was the child of a grandfather, grandmother, father, or mother who was brutally beaten, who returned home that day with blood on his face and clothes, worse after three days, a week or more, when he came out of the cells where the barbarity continued!
Times have changed, they are no longer distinguishable.
It's just that the perpetrators of that barbarity are right there, the same, and one, the one who ordered it, was chosen to be the living monument of violence again. Albania moves forward, progresses, but he doesn't!
