Fredi Beleri's lawyer, Geni Gjyzari, spoke after the 2-year prison sentence by GJKKO for the elected mayor of Himara. He considers it a political decision commissioned by Prime Minister Rama himself.
The lawyer accused the presiding judge of the session of interrupting Fredi Beler several times.
"The chairman of the session who at the beginning of the session made another mistake by interrupting Beler's speech about him. His tension did not leave us doubting the 2-year sentence. You saw for yourself how he shouted, how he interrupted Beler. This is unheard of, this is a political decision as ordered by the prime minister", said the lawyer.
He also stated that the decision will be appealed to the GJKKO Appeal.
His colleague Pandeli Kokaveshi was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months, but his prison sentence was suspended and he will remain on probation for 3 years. GJKKO also ordered the confiscation of the defendants' cell phones and banknotes.
Fredi Beleri and Pandeli Kokaveshi have been in jail since May 12, 2023, accused of buying votes.
