The Special Court sentenced Fredi Beleri to 2 years in prison. The elected mayor of Himara is accused of buying votes and GJKKO has partially accepted SPAK's request. The prosecution asked for 2.6 years in prison for Beleri.
With this decision, GJKKO puts an end to a wide debate that has involved not only justice, but also politics. For almost a year, Greece has only threatened and anathema, as it has violently intervened in the internal affairs of our country. But GJKKO has not been influenced at all by Athens' calls and has decided that Beleri will remain in prison for 2 years.
While Pandeli Kokaveshi was sentenced to 1.6 years in prison, which was converted into probation. GJKKO also ordered the confiscation of the defendants' cell phones and banknotes.
As far as the hearing is concerned, in a 9-page speech, Beleri anathematized both the prosecution and the police for fabricating the evidence against him, as well as the jury, which, according to him, did not accept Beleri's requests and showed bias in the trial.
During the session, Beleri said that he was deprived of his oath as the mayor of Himara and that SPAK is asking him to sentence him for as long as Rama needs.
" You dismissed every request, you deprived me of the right to swear. You didn't bring the right witness, the ones you brought were asked about the clothes, not the wiretapping. You contradicted the testimony of the penalty. From the first day until today it is a political issue. You violated the principle of presumption of innocence and equality before the law.
Erion Çela, the relator judge, intervened saying: Present facts and what serves this proceeding. At each court session you are caught with specific judges to anathematize them. You can appeal rejected requests.
Fredi Beleri: The prosecutor clattered the pen on the table. He put pressure on me. SPAK wants to punish me for as long as Edi Rama needs. Ridiculous baseless tricks. This investigation shows how the judicial process is manipulated. These conclusions cannot be taken into account by the trial body.
The file has no facts, so I did not ask for summary judgment. All the findings of the prosecution are disputed by my lawyers. The truth will come out one day, sooner or later.
