The Constitutional Court will today consider the issue of the mandate of its members. The Constitutional Court was set in motion by a request from President Begaj to declare the end of the mandate of member Sonila Bejtja. The court decided to treat this as a judicial matter.
According to the law, the Constitutional Court must be renewed every 3 years by 1/3 of its members. The first round of re-evaluation should take place this year. In addition to President Holta Zaçaj, whose mandate has ended, the court must now also express its opinion on the mandate of Ms. Bejtja.
Based on this court's decision, parliament will also decide how to replace Elsa Toska, who resigned in September of last year.
