President Begaj calls the 7 violations that the DP Group listed in the request it filed with the Assembly false accusations.
The Democratic Party group has submitted to the Assembly today a request for the dismissal of President Bajram Begaj.
Regarding this request, the Presidency has responded. President Begaj calls the 7 violations that the DP Group listed in the request it filed with the Assembly untrue.
In an official statement released to the media, the Presidency says it expects the Assembly to investigate these allegations with professionalism and full transparency.
For Begaj, this investigation by the Albanian Parliament should not be done as an obligation to the highest office of the Head of State, but as an obligation to the truth and the public interest.
Begaj says he has chosen to exercise his duty uninfluenced by attacks for political interests, or by the fabrication of untruths for public consumption.
"The President of the Republic does not comment on the political initiatives of either party, because such a thing is not consistent with the neutrality of the high constitutional function. He has chosen to exercise the presidential mandate, uninfluenced under any circumstances by attacks for political interests, or by the fabrication of untruths for public consumption. The President of the Republic respects all other constitutional institutions, even when they take positions contrary to the positions held by the President of the Republic in the exercise of his constitutional duty ," the reaction states, among other things.

The public was informed today of an initiative by the Democratic Party to initiate parliamentary proceedings to remove the President of the Republic from office. The President of the Republic does not comment on the political initiatives of either party, because such a thing is not consistent with the neutrality of the high constitutional function. He has chosen to exercise the presidential mandate, uninfluenced under any circumstances by attacks for political interests, or by the fabrication of untruths for public consumption.
The President of the Republic respects all other constitutional institutions, even when they take positions contrary to the positions held by the President of the Republic in the exercise of his constitutional duty.
The procedure for dismissing the President of the Republic from office is a constitutional instrument of Parliament. Parliament is free and sovereign to exercise it whenever it deems it justified. The President of the Republic feels obliged to respond to Parliament with all the seriousness and honesty that this procedure imposes.
The parliamentary group of the Democratic Party has today promoted its initiative by publishing allegations about facts that are not true. The President of the Republic expects the Parliament to investigate them with professionalism and full transparency. This should not be done as an obligation to the high position of the Head of State but as an obligation to the truth and the public interest.
