For more than an hour, the extended meeting of the socialist parliamentary group, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama, has been held at the Brigades Palace in Tirana.
The meeting, which is being held behind closed doors, began with a report by the Director of the State Cadastre Agency, Lorena Goxhobelli. According to reports, she reported on the progress of a project approved by the Government in early 2026 regarding a new system for building tax, administered through an online National Fiscal Cadastre.
The meeting will then continue with a report by Arbjan Maznik, the socialist co-chair of the Special Commission for Territorial Reform. It is expected that after the meeting of the Parliamentary Group, the position that the socialists will take regarding this reform, which is considered one of the two most important by Prime Minister Edi Rama, for the parliamentary session, will be seen.
It seems that Prime Minister Edi Rama will deliver his speech at the end of the reports, while the meeting is also expected to present the strategy that the Socialist MPs will follow in relation to the public. Based on this strategy, the Socialists will be more present in communication not only with the public, but especially with the media, thus breaking the previous rule, according to which they were limited in public appearances, or had to obtain "permission" in advance to be present in the media.
It seems that with the local elections approaching, Prime Minister Rama, after appointing the political leaders in the regions, will also determine the division of deputies not only according to the electoral zones where they are mandated, but also in those areas, outside the regions, where they may have influence and connections, even family ones. In this context, it seems that Rama is setting up the strategy with which he will work on the ground for the 2027 local elections, which will most likely be organized with the new territorial division, for which a Parliamentary Commission led by Mazniku and Luçiano Boçi has been operating for several months.
