Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha reacted after the opening of the NATO air base in Kuçovo.
According to Berisha, who is under house arrest, this is an important event for the security of the country and the North Atlantic Alliance.
Berisha said that the Democratic Party guarantees NATO that it unreservedly supports cooperation with the Alliance, today and in the future.
"Today, the NATO air base in Albania was inaugurated in Kuçovo, after the reconstruction of the Airport.
The Democratic Party, as the first political force in ex-communist Europe that requested the country's membership in NATO and that 15 years ago with deep and multilateral reforms made Albania a member of NATO, welcomes this important event for the security of the country and the Alliance of North Atlantic.
The Democratic Party guarantees NATO that today and in the future it unreservedly supports the cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance and remains determined to respect all political and military obligations of Albania towards it", writes Berisha.
