The former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, has entered the courtroom at GJJKO, where he will be acquainted with the charges.
Dako, arrested for abuse of office twice, will be introduced today with the security measure, while he is present in the hall.
The granting of a building permit for a building 11 years ago in neighborhood no. 5 of Durres was the reason for the arrest of the former socialist mayor of Durres Municipality Vangjush Dako and other former officials of this municipality.
The palace was damaged after the earthquake of November 2019. After the investigations launched by SPAK a year ago, violations were found on the part of the former mayor Vangjush Dako and some of the other former officials.
The businessman Fiqiri Farruku, the builder of the palace, was also imprisoned.
The court has accepted the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office for the arrest of Vangjush Dako and 4 former officials of the Urban Development Directorate of the Municipality of Durrës, including the former Director Adhurim Qehajaj, as well as the owner of a construction company, Fiqiri Farku and the company's engineer. Jail arrest has been requested for three former employees of the Municipality of Durrës.
