Italian journalist Marco Carta reveals the involvement of the "Vlora clan" in the bomb attack against the host of the "Report" show on Rai 3. Italian investigators follow the Albanian trail, which could lead to the corridors of politics in Tirana...

"La Repubblica" journalist Marco Carta, one of the most well-known chronicle reporters in the Rome region, has been publishing details from the investigation into the car bombing of famous journalist Sigfrido Ranucci, host of the investigative show "Report" on Rai 3, known for exposing the mafia and corruption in Italy, for the past 48 hours.

According to Carta's chronicles, based on sources from the Italian Antimafia, Altin Sinomati and his group known as the "Vlora clan" in the Romanian mafia may have had a hand in the assassination. The investigations are in their initial stages, but new developments are expected in the coming days.

A "kamikaze" act by the Albanian mafia

The big question that is being raised is why the Albanian mafia would undertake such a dangerous act, which usually constitutes the “red line” of any organized group. The mafia does not bomb journalists just out of spite or revenge, an assassination attempt on a journalist is carried out either to silence a repentant person, or to protect interests that affect the highest levels of power.

The history of organized crime confirms this logic. Dutch journalist Peter R. de Vries was murdered in 2022 by the “Mokro Mafia” after he was providing legal assistance to a repentant member of the group.

In Italy, journalists like Giuseppe Fava and Nino Pecorelli were murdered for investigations that implicated Cosa Nostra bosses and its links to politics. Even the 1992 assassination of Maurizio Costanzo, who often invited prosecutor Giovanni Falcone to his studio, was later revealed to be part of secret negotiations between the mafia and segments of the Italian government.

In this sense, the assassination of Sigfrido Ranucci is an act that directly harms the Albanian mafia in Italy, as it exposes the groups and brings strong counteraction from the state. Such an act is carried out either in a moment of extreme desperation, or on orders "from above", that is, by political interests that seek to silence a journalist who knows a lot.

The Albanian track and the investigations related to Tirana

According to "La Repubblica", the investigation into the assassination will expand in the coming days and more data is expected to be published about the activity of the "Vlora clan" in Rome.

This group, according to renowned author and journalist Roberto Saviano, is one of the most powerful in the Italian capital, controlling the wholesale and retail cocaine trade, a network that operates as a "franchise" of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta.

Ranucci's "Report" show has devoted a lot of time to investigations into the Albanian mafia and its connections to politics in Albania.

It was precisely from "Report" that the sensational interviews with Arben Ahmetaj, as well as compromising documents about Edi Rama and the Albanian government, came out.

In the new season of the show, new material is expected to be broadcast on the Albanian mafia's money laundering in the Tirana economy, based on sources from the police, secret services and Italian justice.

Therefore, the question that investigators in Rome are asking is straightforward:

Who ordered Altin Sinomat?

If the answer leads beyond Italy, towards the politics of Tirana, then what looks like a mafia assassination could turn into a neutron bomb for the Albanian government.

The investigations have just begun, and what is expected could shock more than one capital./ Pamphlet
