With his right-hand man in a cell behind bars and saved so far from prison for the Tirana incinerator affair, Erion Veliaj says he has a clear conscience.
During the interview for the show "Real Story", the mayor emphasized that the fabrication against him was of ridiculous proportions, which can be dismantled with three sheets.
"It also differs as a model from Elbasan and Fieri due to the fact that the intensity of attention for the mayor of Tirana from the opposition is greater, but the fabrication is also greater. Even the fabrication is of ridiculous proportions that can be disassembled with three sheets, so I have a clear conscience. From the procedural side, I believe that the colleagues, who are both engineers, went as engineers to show how many tons of garbage the municipality produces. At this stage, I believe that as politically we have dealt a fatal blow to these two private properties, PD and LSI, we have the possibility, even from the legal side, to prove that the two municipal engineers were there to contribute to this commission with what values waste is produced in Tirana, but the court will assess this.
So not only do I have no reason to doubt the investigation but rather the order I have given is that we are open and have no complex as long as the documents are in order and the property has not been municipality but was simply in administration. As long as the municipal council voted after the contract was signed in August, it voted in September. The next spring after we secured the funds, I said yes. Now we have the opportunity to pay for this service and not for this investment", Veliaj said.
