Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku said that she was surprised when the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, admitted several legal violations in the parliamentary committee on the incinerator affair.
According to her, Veliaj has accepted the commitment financed without the decision of the municipal council, as well as a series of other violations.
“In the investigative commission, no one has admitted my guilt, everyone has tried to justify themselves to get out of the situation, Erion Veliaj has admitted it. I asked him three times because I couldn't believe it. Are you referring to which decision of the municipal council and which letter of yours? He has admitted that he started a financial commitment without the decision of the municipal council and this is the first legal violation to commit 98 million euros. He admitted to me that although the Ministry of Finance asked him in subsequent letters to bring the support of all the municipalities of the district of Tirana, he sent the letter only to the municipality of Tirana and not to the district. He admitted that we did not do it in the expropriation, while the expropriation was done by the municipality of Tirana and the municipality did not have the funds", said Jorida Tabaku in "MCN".
