Agron Shehaj, leader of the Mundësia party, which competed in the May 11 elections to have its representatives in Parliament, said he was disappointed with the results of the elections so far.
In a short interview for the show "Opinion" on Tv Klan, Shehaj said that the Mundësia party had a good result in the capital, where it claims to get a second mandate, and in other cities. However, Shehaj admitted that in the villages the result was not good at all.
Excerpt from the interview:
Blendi Fevziu : Look, are you disappointed with the election results now that the votes are coming out?
Agron Shehaj : Disappointed.
Blendi Fevziu : So it seems that you have received around 30 thousand votes nationwide so far, along with the diaspora vote. Was it within your goal, or was it below expectations?
Agron Shehaj : It was below expectations. It must be said that we have a much better result in Tirana and the cities, while in the villages the result was not good at all.
Blendi Fevziu : Shehaj, do you think you will get a second term in Tirana?
Agron Shehaj : We are very close and we are here at every counting center to fight for every vote, so that every vote of the Opportunity Party is counted.
Analyst Artan Hoxha asked Shehaj why he took the "risk" of creating a separate party, when he could have easily stayed with the Democratic Party, "safe" and with many opportunities to make a career.
Agron Shehaj : We didn't set out to get as many MPs as possible, because I thought we would get as many MPs from outside as possible, or because it was easier for me to become an MP from outside the party than from within. We started a political project, this is just the first step, we would like to be better. But, being the third political force in Tirana, we will do an analysis, but I don't think it is a disappointing result.
-But, how was the voting process in Albania for Shehaj?
Agron Shehaj : We are a new party that has existed for 10 months. We do not have structures like new parties. The information has not reached the villages, they have not understood us. Look, we are aware that we are competing in Albania, where we are not at all on equal terms. Not everything has worked out, what did not work out in the previous elections. But, we should not give excuses, we should find a solution", said the leader of the Mundësia party.
