Jorida Tabaku shows the door to Sali Berisha: We need new leadership to win, not
DP MP, Jorida Tabaku

The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, has again commented on the defeat of the opposition in the local elections of May 14, where she said that the voting results showed that the DP is no longer so big and strong.

Tabaku emphasized that the division of the opposition led to a losing result in the strongholds of the Democratic Party.

So asked about the fact that a new leadership is required in DP and whether former Prime Minister Sali Berisha can contribute to the leadership levels, Tabaku said that the opposition should unite and be a model of hope for the citizens, but should not walk with the idea of holding the chair.

"Of course, we need a new leadership spirit, we have been wanting to give a different message for 10 years. DP cannot be an electoral, non-populist party, have a modern program and speak to all strata. There is no political force that can to transform Albania, better than DP. But we must also adjust. We must have a new group of people, and not the number 1. This union we are talking about is not mechanical, but a process. We must have a group of people who they do not have the interest of the chair and the staff, but only the Democratic Party. The internal attack must stop and we must talk to the people about their concerns, the people have their own problems and demand the restoration of hope in the DP. Everyone must contribute him in PD, to build a more open party and see how he can rebuild it.",Tabaku said in an interview with the media.

As for the weak results that the opposition got in the local elections, she said that the division definitely had an impact.

"There are many reasons in fact, but I believe it is related to many factors and to us. The elections of May 14 showed that PD is no longer big and strong, it showed that we did not have an alternative, people rejected us and did not vote. The elections have had permanent problems that ODIHR has made clear, and the decline in the number of voters influenced this continuous result. The constant quarrel between us, resulted in this reflection, PD has everything to be the modern party, but our offer and pressure, brought this result. I have seen the result in the stronghold of the DP as very depressing," said the deputy.
