Jorida Tabaku candidate for Tirana Municipality? The DP MP clarifies everything!

Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, commented on the May 11 elections, emphasizing that the opposition will launch a new institutional and political battle, both in Tirana and in the international arena, to denounce the problems of this process.

"We cannot act as if nothing happened, " said Tabaku, emphasizing that within two weeks a special debate on the elections in Albania will be held in the European Parliament.

" Now is the time for the opposition to fight for the elections. The DP will use the platform of Parliament as well as any other platform for public debate, but today we cannot act as if nothing has happened ," adds the DP MP.

Asked if she would be willing to run for mayor of Tirana, Tabaku avoided a direct answer, emphasizing that she is currently a member of the Albanian Parliament and that candidacy issues are internal decisions of the Democratic Party.

"I ran for deputy in the Albanian Parliament and I am a deputy in the Albanian Parliament, then the other big things are discussions that do not even belong to the media, about what the Democratic Party does ," she said on the "Now" show on "Euronews Albania".

On the other hand, Tabaku also emphasized that the European integration process remains an important force for change.

"These were the first elections where Albania had opened negotiations and I had hoped that the Government would have a different behavior. This is for the sake of the political will that must be there for the integration process so that this time the behavior would be different, this time it was worse than any other time. If there is a force that can change both the electoral process and the fight against organized crime, but also other issues, it is the force that the integration process has. It is necessary to use the parliamentary space for this. We achieve this by exercising controls over the elections but also over all other issues", said Jorida Tabaku.
