One of the most voted DP people in the May 11 elections, Ilir Alimehmeti, has spoken openly about the situation within the DP, where, according to him, a deep distance has been established between the leadership and the party base.
Alimehmeti said that since the May 11 elections, there have been no grassroots meetings and he raised this concern with the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, who announced the start of meetings with the grassroots this Tuesday.
"Berisha needs to establish more contact with the structures, because there is a buffer layer that does not convey the concerns of the base, they tell him with coefficients. When he goes to the base, he gets a more complete picture, but there are people who do not tell him the whole truth. This whole layer between the mayor and the rest does not work ," said Ilir Alimehmeti.
But Alimehmeti said that many DP delegates in the districts and delegates fail to gather people.
"It's great that he's going down to the structures, and I've personally told him that he needs to go down. Why don't his delegates in the districts do it, but he does? He might go down, but I don't know if the others are waiting for him. That's why the party chairman is forced to do it. On the other hand, we find it easy to meet the structures, to gather anyone who has opposition beliefs, who can be attached. We make it easy and this is shown by the people's support, in politics this is an indicator. Berisha should also come into more contact with the structures, because there is a buffer layer that does not convey the concerns of the base, they tell him with coefficients ," he added.
