The General Secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, demands that the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi resign, after the scandal in the military department of Zall Herri, where a parcel of cannabis was discovered.
He says that the minister was aware of this event and that in this case the responsibility is personal.
"Today is the day for Niko Peleshi to resign, because he knew that drugs were planted in the military units. We told him in the parliament, as we said a few years ago that airplanes carrying drugs were being flown from military units. Even then it turned out to be true! Mr. Minister of Defense, the responsibility is yours! Resign!" said Bardhi.
"A year ago, some changes in the law on the Military Police were discussed in the parliament. Those were the days when the Dutch authorities discovered the involvement of an Albanian army major in the construction of a hash house in the Netherlands, while he was there on a mission within NATO.
In my speech to the Law Commission, I mentioned this case to understand how the Military Police and the Army Intelligence Service had carried out their duties, as this was not an isolated case. I did not expect to receive an answer either from the representative of the army or from the representative of the government. They exist only to cover the traces of organized crime that has now also infiltrated the army of the NATO member country. I know this is a serious accusation, but the facts are stubborn.
A year ago, I loudly declared that the case of the senior Albanian officer in the Netherlands is not isolated, as cannabis is planted in military units on behalf of criminal organizations. The deputies heard him. The government listened. The army heard him. The Army Intelligence Service and the State Intelligence Service heard it. What was the reaction? Zero! They hid behind the prime minister's favorite phrase "responsibility is personal". In fact, it's a rallying call "well done you guys, give it till you get caught"!
The day came for the NATO partners to be caught, once again, because if it were for Edi Rama or Niko Pelesh, cannabis would be planted on the terrace of the Parliament of Albania and the Prime Minister's Office. Today is the day for Niko Peleshi to resign, because he knew that drugs were planted in the military units. We told him in the parliament, as we said a few years ago that airplanes carrying drugs were being flown from military units. Even then it turned out to be true! Mr. Minister of Defense, the responsibility is yours! Resign!", writes Bardhi on Facebook.
