Four members of the KAS voted yesterday against the complaints of 4 opposition candidates, including Ilir Alimehmet, who requested a recount of votes in the Tirana and Durrës Regions.
The only one who voted for the recount was Ilir Rusmali, while the argument used by the other 4 members of the KAS who rejected the complaints was related to the procedure, namely the fact that the requests were submitted by individuals and not by the entities they represented in the competition.
Opposition member of the KAS, Ledio Braho, explained to Report TV the vote against the requests for recount by democratic candidates, bringing up the precedent of Lediana Fratari.
"Even in 2021, there was the precedent of "Lediana Fratari" who requested a recount and the KAS has maintained the position that candidates in the code are not legitimized, but only electoral subjects. We have maintained the same position this time. I stand by the law. This has also been evidenced by the OSCE-ODIHR (the fact that the candidate cannot request it himself). So for the candidate's request for a recount to be accepted, either the law must be changed or it must be the party that requests it. I will not violate the law," he said in a telephone conversation.
What did the Democratic candidates want?
Ilir Alimehmeti, Mimoza Hajdarmataj and Lisandër Hoxha, asked the CEC to recount their votes in Tirana. Alimehmeti, in his letter, emphasized that during the process of verifying the cameras, several irregularities were found, which could affect the change in the result of the ranking on the open list. In a VC, he says that 27 preferential votes for him have gone to another candidate, being marked in the summary table as 0 votes. Doctor Alimehmeti could not win a seat in parliament even though he received 18 thousand personal votes. He was defeated in the internal race by Jorida Tabaku, who results with an advantage of 2 thousand votes.
Mimoza Hajdarmataj, in her request, stated that "it turns out that there were irregularities in the amount of over 1000 votes in at least 6 CEAZs", while Hoxha claimed that from the incomplete videos received by the CEC of the process of counting the candidates' votes, he found that some of his preferential votes were registered in the name of another candidate. He has a total of 1902 votes, while Kalaja, who also requested a recount of his votes, received 7291 votes, ranking second. The first in the Durrës District was Arjan Ndoja with 8249 votes, the only one who secured a mandate from the open list of the PD-ASHM in the Durrës District.
