The Alliance for a Greater Albania suffered a deep and historic defeat in the May 11 elections, but for Sali Berisha's ally, the leader of the National Conservative Party, Kujtim Gjuzi, there were several external and internal causes.
The main mistake made by the leader of the DP was with the lists of deputies and the selection of political leaders in the districts.
He brought up the example of the loss of Tirana on Report TV's 'Studio Live', where Gjuzi said that the appointment of Belind Këlliçi as the political leader of the DP for the region was wrong, because he does not represent all the democrats of the capital. According to him, the same mistake was made with Gazment Bardhi in Fier, but also in other regions.
Also, one of the other reasons for Gjuzi was the inclusion in the DP lists for MPs on the safe lists of 23 Sorosians.
"Berisha put 23 Soros supporters on the lists, he forced them there. I told Berisha by message. As for LaCivita, I think he didn't give advice, but took advice. Tirana wasn't robbed of votes, whoever says it was stolen is lying.
"But we lost two mandates in Tirana, the list was the main reason, the right representatives were not put in, the names are missing. Even Basha should have been in the coalition because the votes were being collected. I also told the doctor, Sali Berisha, on the phone. In the other districts there was a farce," the head of the PKKA said to moderator Arbër Hitaj, analyzing the causes of the opposition's defeat.
He even expressed criticism for the inclusion of 2 Freedom Party representatives in the closed lists.
"Including two PL names on the safe list in Tirana was a wrong move. They could have only included Ilir Meta since they wanted to get him out of prison and called it political imprisonment. But I couldn't be part of a list with 23 Soros supporters. In Tirana, if the ballot boxes are opened, the votes on the open list are alienated," he continued.
As for the implementation of the DP statute and the "Basha Article", Gjuzi expressed himself ambiguously, not 'selling out' Berisha, while also acknowledging the praise he gave him during the campaign.
"For Berisha's resignation from the DP, it is the party membership's right. If I were in that party, I would say divide it 50 to 50% and it would be resolved by Congress. So if I were, I could abstain, but for me, let it remain because the opposition needs it. Even Rama dies for him, Berisha dies for me too, he mentioned me 8 times. 23 Soros MPs have no business with us, they have no vote," said Gjuzi.
