DP MP Oerd Bylykbashi said that the Prosecution failed to establish a Task Force to prevent electoral crime. He added that the latest OSCE/ODIHR report for May 11 best demonstrated that electoral crime was not prevented.
At the meeting of the Laws and Public Administration Committee, 6 items on the agenda are being discussed, 6 draft resolutions that will be presented on Monday in the plenary session on the reporting of independent institutions, including those of justice.
Bylykbashi criticized the prosecution, while emphasizing that none of the issues were included in these resolutions, just like the earlier State Department report and the one on the elections.
"The OSCE/ODIHR report showed that the Prosecutor's Task Force did not function, electoral crime and vote buying were not prevented. The resolutions here only touch the surface and do not tell the truth. Parliament puts its finger on the wound, the situations worsen and escalate. We have reports from OSCE/ODIHR, DASH and others, which are not included here and which should have been included, should be discussed," said Bylykbashi.
Further, the MP addressed the issues and the fact that the majority is silent, has no approach to solving these issues, and that he is interested in the situation of electoral control.
"A Task Force was set up that has failed massively. We can see electoral crime on both sides, how it currently functions and how it will continue in the future. We have centralization of power, institutions are not independent, there is cooperation with organized crime and everything ends as it ended in the elections with electoral crime. I do not expect the majority to have access. The majority is worried about losing the elections, so the reports speak clearly. The resolutions here do not match, no issues arise," said Bylykbashi.
Agenda for resolutions of the Laws Committee:
Review of the draft resolution evaluating the activity of the Prosecutor General on the state of crime, for the year 2024.
Review of the draft resolution evaluating the activity of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, for the year 2024.
