Prime Minister Edi Rama, in the joint conference with the EU Enlargement Commissioner, said that EU integration goes through regional integration.
Rama also stopped at the Open Balkans, stressing that all that has been heard about this is false.
"We have many people working outside, helping families. For every money they send, the transaction cost is 6 times higher compared to transactions in EU countries
The new plan will allow us to bring this cost to the same place as the member states. This means that we will save with this half a billion euros. It will be saved from the pockets of Albanian citizens and will be saved from the costs of our businesses. This is only one of these things, but there are many others that are part of the growth plan that gives us the opportunity to have conditions and processes that are exactly the same as those of the member states. These things happened when a country became a member. Now they are happening before we become members
The other side is funding, more funding, with projects and for our budgets. I'm glad we got to this point. It has not been easy, but it is quite rewarding.
On the other hand, I want to tell you that all those efforts we have made to move towards regional integration through the new growth plan must now happen, without "but", without political reasons to make agreements.
When we talked about how important it was to move faster through the regional journey, to get closer to each other, it is now clear to me that if we had done more before we would have been closer now. So European integration goes through regional integration. There is no question about this, it is not controversial and the new plan seals this. All the lies we have heard about the Open Balkans are now clearly exposed as lies," said Rama.
