Prime Minister Edi Rama and his counterpart Dimitar Kovacevski inspected the Qafë Thana Border Point where the "One stop shop" initiative between the two respective countries was presented.
Rama said that the goal of the two countries is the complete unification of customs, and to advance with this idea, they have no reason to wait for EU integration.
"I want to hope that both Ministries of the Interior will go to another level in this peak period of the season, to carry out a random check of cars with license plates of the Republic of Albania or the Republic of North Macedonia.
This is an important step, but the final goal is the unification of customs that will naturally come with the integration of Albania and North Macedonia in the European Union, but we do not have to wait for the European Union to advance it as an idea.
There were many skeptics and scoffers when we started this process, but in the meantime the results speak better every day. Let's make the space between us a space where you can live like in the European Union without expecting to be part of it. The Prime Minister mentioned the much-talked-about project of Corridor 8, whose day has come to be realized and for which work is being done on both sides of the border", said Rama.
