The latest institutional crisis in Kosovo seems to transcend internal political rivalries and is linked to a broader clash between Western powers for influence in the region. Albin Kurti’s decision not to re-nominate Vjosa Osmani for president comes at a time when the US and Germany have different positions on political developments in Pristina. The diplomatic moves of recent days, the pressure on opposition parties and the silence of some international actors show that Kosovo has once again become a terrain of geopolitical rivalry. In this context, the current crisis may be part of a larger reconfiguration of political influence in the Balkans.
The latest crisis that Kosovo has entered, which poses a great danger not only for the newest state in Europe, but for the entire Albanian space, seems to be a game that goes beyond the political actors of the state.
For years now, this country has become a victim of new clashes between the Great World Powers, namely between the United States of America and Europe, in particular Germany.
Kosovo could elect a President, perhaps not last night, but it could enter the process of electing the head of state towards the third round, where the Constitution relaxes both the quorum and the number of votes, and the country would not enter a trauma like it did.
The US and Germany have clashed heavily in Kosovo, and just one day before the session for the President of the Republic, there has been a major diplomatic movement in the two political circles in Pristina.
The US has gathered the entire Kosovo opposition, namely the party leaders, to not enter into an agreement on the election of the President with Vetëvendosje.
On the other hand, the Germans have also played hard to prevent Vjosa Osmani from being President of the Republic. A move that would greatly harm Albin Kurti, as the two were political allies until two days ago, even though they have had divisions and disagreements between them.
Albin Kurti decided not to run Vjosa Osmani for a second term, even though she has been one of his most important political allies since 2021.
In the last parliamentary elections, where Vetëvendosje managed to get 51% of the votes, i.e. an absolute majority, an important contribution was also made by Vjosa Osmani, who set the election date precisely at a time when immigrants were coming to Kosovo. They gave Albin Kurti more than 140 thousand votes, namely the number needed to achieve a majority alone.
Albin Kurti, with such a majority, not only can he easily extend a legislature where he can approve all government laws without any problems, but a Vjosa Osmani in the Presidency would not hinder his work.
Even if he bothered her to satisfy her ego, or to increase his political influence for the future, Albin Kurti would not suffer anything politically.
Vjosa's departure simply for ego, anger or sentimental quarrels can only happen if Kurti is an irrational character. Something that over the years in politics he has shown the opposite; he has even been often described as a politician who is cold in calculation and cautious in his actions.
So the reasons that forced Albin Kurti to enter into such a clash at the start of his third term as head of the Kosovo government seem to be different.
One version is that of a prophylactic check. That is, the removal of Vjosa Osmani to prevent a scenario similar to that of 2020, when the Americans helped to overthrow his government by creating another majority in the Assembly. However, this version is not very convincing, as such an intervention today seems impossible due to Kurti's strong parliamentary majority.
The most likely version seems to be a much larger game, originating not in Pristina, but in major Western political centers.
This strong action, which exposes Albin Kurti even in the face of the Trump administration, which is publicly invested in keeping Vjosa Osmani in the Presidency, appears to come from Berlin.
Germany, which has supported Albin Kurti since the beginning of his political career, seems to want to respond to Washington with a strong move.
Kosovo has long become a battleground for influence between Western powers for political influence in the region.
It is interesting that so far we have not seen any statement from the US embassy, perhaps because international attention has been focused on other global developments.
However, silence often speaks louder than statements, it speaks of a new era in the Balkans, where a new plan is expected to be implemented. Few people know about this plan, but Albin Kurti in Kosovo knows it better than anyone else, because his big supporters in Berlin have told him. As does Edi Rama and Aleksandar Vučić, whom the German government humiliated by jointly signing an opinion piece drafted by Berlin diplomats in the Frankfurter Alemagne Zeitung.
It seems that we are dealing with a new plan, which at least speaks of a weakening of the Albanian factor in the region. What about northern Kosovo?/ Pamphlet

Po citoj një fragment nga ky postim: " SHBA ka mbledhur të gjithë opozitën e Kosovës, përkatësisht krerët e partive, për të mos hyrë në një marrëveshje për zgjedhjen e Presidentit me Vetvendosjen". Kjo nuk do të thotë që SHBA nuk duan Kurtin, por që ndoshta nuk duan Znj.Osmani.Ose që kushtet kur pa Vetvendosjen nuk zgjidhej Znj.Osmani Presidente , hajde e prishim lojën . Dekreti i Presidentes Osmani për shpërndarjen e Parlamentit është Antikushtetues, dhe për pasojë Znj. Osmanin e ka puth halla në të dy faqet dhe është jashtë politikës. Që sot e mot.

E kane filluar me Sazanin, por ne vegjelia nuk dime se sa troje e prona mund te kene ne trojet Shqiptare. Kam jetuar me ta, jane korrekte e duken fisnike por nuk ka me te pabese. Kur i ze mat e utregon me fakte vendin qe jane popull kopil te ardhur ne trojet e te tjereve acarohen e ikin me bisht nen shale edhe me vrap. Ne bote te pakten ne 4mije vjecaret e fundit, te gjitha Perandorite e Medha kane perfunduar ne hic, asgje, nothing. Thone qe cifutet jane inteligjente. Pergjigja ime eshte, nje mut.
Dardania ka pasur do burra te gjate, trima e te mencur. Si e ulen kaq poshte mencurine populli Dardan qe i zgjodhi keta shtupa haleje e tani po vuan kapadaillekun e tyre. Nuk u merrni drune e vini ca butra te mencur e me moral e karakter Shqiptari!
