The Albanian Parliament has started the procedures for the first session of the 11th legislature, which will take place on Friday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m. Following the decree of President Bajram Begaj, who announced this date for the start of the proceedings, the Parliament administration has addressed the Central Election Commission with a request for the full list of the deputies declared winners, in order to verify the mandates.
The letter to the CEC states that documentation is required for the candidates elected in the elections of May 11, 2025, in compliance with Article 69 of the Constitution and Decision No. 34, dated 28.8.2025, on the announcement of the final result. This step is necessary before the deputies take the oath and the new legislature officially begins.
" In fulfillment of the duty of the Assembly of Albania to verify the mandates of the deputies declared elected by decision no./34, dated 28.8.2025 "On the announcement of the final result of the elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, dated May 11, 2025", we request from you, in compliance with Article 69 of the Constitution, the documentation deposited with your institution for the candidates for deputies in the elections of May 11, 2025 ", states the letter addressed to the CEC.
A day earlier, President Begaj called on MPs to fulfill their commitments to citizens, while the Socialist Party Assembly is expected to convene on September 11, where the “Rama 4” government cabinet will be presented. This development puts political events on a busy calendar, where decisions on the composition of the government and the start of the work of the Assembly are expected to set the tone for politics for the coming months.
