The vice-president of the Democratic Party, Luciano Boçi, spoke about the latest developments in the Democratic Party, from the court decision on the seal, non grata of Berisha in Britain and the situation almost a year from the next elections.
Boçi said that the facts submitted by Berisha's lawyers were not taken into consideration, adding that those brought by Britain are untrue and outrageous.
"It is not the decision of the Appeal, but an administrative commission. We do not have a court decision. We cannot have an appeal when we do not have a first instance decision. The facts submitted by Berisha and his lawyers have not been considered. Legal steps are followed later. Berisha in his articulations has considered it as a personal matter. He did not lobby and preferred to follow the legal path. This is an issue that does not affect the political action of the DP. This thing has recently been relativized, as by analogous cases of non grata that have no electoral effects. As vice president I have political reasons not to be concerned about this. What Britain brings are not only untrue, but they are screaming ," Boçi said.
Berisha, 6 months out of Parliament, will his mandate burn?
"Behavior with Berisha's mandate is ongoing. I am not surprised that Nikola asked for the removal of the mandate. The law and the constitution clearly define that Mr. Berisha's mandate ends when he is absent for 6 months without reason and when there is a final court decision and both of these conditions are not met. The absence in the parliament was not without reason, but a stop by a body which should have allowed it", he said.
"Basha and Alibeaj have self-excluded from the DP"
"We do not exclude anyone. They expelled Berisha and made decisions about it. We have declared that we do not exclude anyone and today we have a formalization of this self-formalization. It was expected. Meanwhile, they were elected with DP votes and this is very basic. Such an escape has happened many times in the years of pluralism, but not in the form that happened with Alibeaj, as it is an escape, not a manly one, but an escape that avoids responsibilities ", continued Boçi.
Is there a place for Basha in the PD today?
"Basha has self-excluded, but has not yet formalized it as Alibeaj. It has dragged the Democrats down for so many years. It needs formalization. Basha's departure is very close and it is something that he has also expressed during this time with the tendency for a new party. He changes the statements. He has often moved from A to ZH. It has always been like this and we should not be surprised about it. For others, the call and appeal continues as they are part of the DP. There has always been and is a place for them in DP" , he said.
Less than a year from the elections, where is the DP today?
"Every political force is always late for the elections. Edi Rama is working with the administration. He is even working beyond Albania with the budget money. Every action of the opposition has its own value, even it cannot be interrupted when there are fundamental issues. The battles of the opposition must continue, not only in these formats, but also in larger ones. There are problems, Vlora had 3 days without water, Elbasan has other problems. We are on the right path and the right path is to have other political actions. We are articulating certain parts of the party program. However, here with us it is not that it has been acquired during these years with the program. Very good was the year 2021, but who listened and reflected? There is no choice system here. It is important and DP programs have always been essential", said Boçi for "A2 CNN".
