As the parliament approves today the draft law that increases the salaries of ministers and deputies, the Joint Movement led by Arlind Qori has gathered in front of the parliament to protest against this law.

According to Qor, the deputy's salary in Albania will be 39 times the minimum pension and 21 times the average pension in the city.

"They do not respect their status or their constituents. We are used to the fact that at the head of institutions there are profoundly ignorant and arrogant people. People who, in a fair society, I don't know if they would find a job, or they would most likely end up in prison for delinquents. Instead of the person in question ending up in prison as a pickpocket, today we have a deputy, we have one of the largest market owners. A man who is not afraid of the law or the reaction of the citizens. They did not take power from the people, but they took it from the people. In democratic countries, MPs study a lot, they are always in parliamentary commissions, they study the experience of other countries. They read books and similar situations.

In Albania, the average member of parliament, apart from being ignorant, does nothing from morning to evening, he simply spends two months before the elections in his neighborhood. Where he buys votes, where he gets votes with intimidation. Today they will double their salary. In our Albania, the minimum pension is as high as anywhere else in Europe. Imagine being a pensioner and living with 80 thousand old lek. The deputy's salary will be equal to 39 minimum pensions. It will be as much as 21 average pensions. This is a scandal unheard of in any country. I made comparisons in other countries, in Italy it turned out that the basic salary of the deputy in Italy is 5 thousand euros, the minimum pension is 600 euros. Do the divisions and it will come out 8-9 times. In Albania it is 39 times the minimum pension. A member of parliament today will receive a salary 6-7 times higher than the salary of a policeman. Now they are in the shadows, then they will go out into the sun. Where can this country stand, how can there be so much inequality?! Those who govern us do not want to know about the people, they can come after a week and make it 15 million. Why not? They will find us an example in the world and tell us. Meanwhile, the plenary session in the Assembly has started. The draft for the salary increase without wasting time was put on the agenda a few days after the approval in the Economy Commission.

Parliament is expected to approve today two draft laws, which are part of the wage reform, the largest that will be applied to date.

It is about raising the salaries of the entire public administration. Together with the administration, the salaries of deputies and ministers will also increase, there is almost talk of doubling them.

The majority and the opposition joined the votes in the Economy Commission on Tuesday for their increase.

The reform has a total cost of 39 billion ALL.
