Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted for the first time regarding the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Through a communication with followers on social media, Rama expressed that support for justice will continue the same and will be unwavering. He added that the silence of the majority on the arrest of Veliaj was misunderstood.
Rama responded to the opposition by saying that, "opinions are led by the old swamp owl (referring to Berisha), while others hold them accountable."
"It's been five years since everyone has been talking back and forth about every individual who makes that transition there in front of the cameras and only we, the Socialist Party, the leading force and guarantor of justice reform, are silent. Our silence has helped the justice institutions because what they lack is highlighting their shortcomings and wrong tendencies, and today the justice institutions are faced with people who rejoice in the arrests and who are attacked by politicians."
