PD MP Gazment Bardhi, in a statement to the media after the meeting of the Parliamentary Group at the Presidency of the Assembly, called the decision of the Council of Mandates to approve SPAK's request for Berisha's arrest a double standard.
According to him, in the cases when it comes to the deputies of the majority, the Council of Mandates has not accepted to remove the immunity and the opposite happens when it comes to the deputies of the opposition.
He further added that Berisha's file, which came to the Assembly, is not complete and, according to him, does not present any evidence to remove his immunity.
"We are not outside of reality, in all our discussions we have also analyzed yesterday's activity of the council of mandates. I regret the double standards followed by the colleagues of the majority, when it comes to the deputies of the majority there is an immunity effect, while when it comes to the deputies of the opposition, it does not matter what the constitution says, but the political will of Edi Rama is enough.
In our judgment, judged and in the practice that this assembly has followed in previous cases, the prohibition to move abroad and the appearance, must be authorized by the assembly. This not only did not happen, but an irregular decision was made yesterday at the Council meeting.
The file submitted to the Assembly has no evidence, and for us it is unacceptable. The Assembly is a political structure that judges on the basis of the authority of the Constitution, and that authority is whether or not it gives authority to waive immunity. Complete documentation for Berisha is missing. I call on SPAK to undertake acts only with the force of the law, no act that is not based on the law does not serve the public interest nor the strengthening of the prosecution's trust in the people," said Bardhi. a>
