Analyst Arben Meçe says that the head of the DP group, Gazment Bardhi, is being used by Sali Berisha to take over the party from Lulzim Basha.
According to Meçe, the decision of the Council of Mandates on Monday, December 18, to remove Berisha's immunity, marked the political death of the former prime minister.
"The movements of Bardhi and his supporters should also be seen as Berisha's scheme to activate him in a second moment. The scheme was that a powerful Berisha group was installed next to Basha's group, to take over Basha's party. Basha's vigilance caused him to overshadow them and prevent them from taking over the party. They have triumphed and produced a new identity, resistance to Berisha and every kind of intimidation and Trojan horse used by Berisha.
The Bardhi group are the people of Berisha. The only way today for them to escape is to stay at a distance from Berisha. Bardhi finally understood the determination of the Albanian state, of the law-enforcement institutions, that the Berisha case will be brought to the end.
That session that took place when the Council of Mandates made a decision to remove the immunity to pass the case to the parliament, is the political death of Berisha.
