Over 150,000 applications from Albanians in the diaspora to register as voters in the May 11 parliamentary elections have been received by the CEC, while a total of 187,000 applications have been made.
Referring to the division by region, Tirana has the highest number of registered emigrants, followed by Fieri, Durrës and Fieri.
Around 37,000 voters were denied this registration due to not properly completing the form, in the meantime they can re-apply by following the registration procedures.
Referring to the distribution, around 31 thousand immigrants are registered as voters in Tirana, followed by Fier with over 19 thousand, Durrës and Elbasan with over 15 thousand, Korça 14 thousand, Vlora 12 thousand, Berat over 10 thousand, Shkodra around 10 thousand, Lezha with 8 thousand, Gjirokastra and Dibra with around 6 thousand and finally Kukës with around 2500 registered, reports Report TV journalist Esiona Konomi.
But which are the districts where the immigrant vote could change the number of mandates for the Socialists or the opposition led by the DP, based on the 2021 elections?
One of the districts is Durrës, where the last mandate was divided by a few hundred votes, while on May 11, there may be at least 15,000 more voters, due to the vote of emigrants.
Also in Berat and Tirana, the emigrant vote could bring a change in terms of the distribution of mandates, referring also to the fact that the capital represents the largest region with 37 mandates, but also that there will be a greater commitment from new parties. Likewise in Korça and Fier, with 11 and 16 mandates respectively, the emigrant vote could affect the distribution of mandates.
