Under tight security measures, and behind closed doors, Prime Minister Edi Rama has gathered the socialist parliamentary group at the Brigades Palace in Tirana.
Every vehicle entering the Brigades Palace was checked by at least two members of the Republican Guard, who checked the license plates and the people inside. This is a measure that has never been applied to such meetings, which are usually held in the Parliament building, opposite the Prime Minister's Office.
The meeting started almost 30 minutes late, from the announced 10:00, while Prime Minister Edi Rama arrived around 10:20.
The meeting, which will last until 3:00 PM, according to information previously distributed by the Socialist Party, is expected to focus on the activities of the Assembly and the definition of a 1-year agenda in the work of the Parliament, where priority will be given to the implementation of reforms, both electoral and territorial, but also to initiatives that will be presented by the Government or Special Parliamentary Commissions.
Despite the fact that it was expected that at least the Parliamentary Group meeting would be open, at the moment when Prime Minister Edi Rama would present the objectives and messages to the Socialist MPs.
But it seems that in the last moments, another decision has been made, to keep everything 'under control', away from the media, aiming in this way that any information leak would be controlled. The Prime Minister has chosen not to make his speech or messages public, at least like usual speeches, although the main points are expected to be made public in the coming hours.
One of the issues that may generate debate in Parliament during the parliamentary session is the new Criminal Code, which has previously generated quite a few reactions and debates.
But there will also be no shortage of attempts to affect justice institutions, especially to interfere with the powers of SPAK, perhaps by reducing the criminal offenses that this Prosecutor's Office has jurisdiction over. /Pamphlet/
