Message from the US for May 11, Kreshnik Spahiu: There is coldness in relations,

Analyst Kreshnik Spahiu commented for "Top Story" on the reaction made today by the United States embassy regarding the May 11 elections.

According to Spahiu, the embassy's short message was a cold stance that does not inspire enthusiasm in the majority and, on the other hand, dashes the hopes of the opposition.

"It was a cold message. This does not exclude the possibility that when the government is formalized, a higher-level message will come. It was a message that closes the hopes for the opposition, because it was the last straw, where the opposition had pinned its hopes. However, I think that the DP will continue the lobbying contract, because the existence of the DP and the leadership depends on it. Berisha wants to normalize relations with the US, otherwise his castle will fall. The US is more indifferent than interfering."

The analyst also said that there is a 'coldness' in the current relations between the US and our country, as he recalled that Prime Minister Edi Rama has not held any meetings with President Donald Trump since the latter took office for a second term at the head of the White House.

"That the US has interfered in the elections, intervened in Kosovo and other countries. In Albania it has been indifferent, but this is not so positive that Osman has shaken Trump's hand three times, since he returned to the head of the White House. There is a visible coldness with Albania, which I think is more that we are not on the US agenda at all at the moment or it has not yet come to the discussion table."

While congratulating the Albanian people on the elections, the embassy stressed in response that they look forward to continuing their partnership with Albania. “We congratulate the people of Albania on the parliamentary elections and look forward to continuing our close partnership with Albania,” the embassy wrote.
