Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha reacted today to the tense meeting at the PD presidency where MPs and journalists were insulted and threatened by a group of militants who were waiting for them outside the building where the meeting was held.
Berisha says that this was Rama's script.
"I condemn with the greatest force the gangsters who threatened the journalists who attended a meeting all night where there were MPs and non-MPs and instead of being thanked for their sacrifice, the journalists faced insults and threats from thugs for the fault of only that they were doing their duty with real sacrifices. I am not here to suggest which news they will follow, but under no circumstances could they be insulted or threatened. Those who think they will close the problems seem insulted and threatened, the journalists are gangsters, thugs. Likewise, I condemn the threats made to the deputies, these are acts of a shameful policy of violence that originates from the scenarios of Edi Rama", said Berisha.
We remind you that in the meeting of the Presidency that lasted until the early hours of Wednesday with 17 votes in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions, the Presidency decided that the race for the new leader of the Democrats will be held on July 29, in the conditions when Jorida Tabaku also refused party leadership.
This decision brought tension in the meeting, since the deputies, who are also members of the Presidency, have not accepted that the elections will be held soon.
Some MPs left the meeting after demanding that first the grassroots elections be held, and then the new president be appointed.
Gazment Bardhi, Saimir Korreshi, Helidon Bushati, Dashnor Sula, Lefter Geshtenja, Bledion Nallbati, Dhurata Çupi left the meeting.
In the meantime, we remember that the possibility of Lulzim Basha nominating him again to run the DP has remained open even though he has not done anything official so far.
