In his speech at the DP National Assembly, Berisha stated that, according to him, Rama used all means to weaken the DP, including removing the party's seal and name, political isolation, and attacks on opposition structures.
"He launched an attack to destroy the DP, to turn it into a facade opposition, to buy it. But he was wrong. This party is not for the market, this party is for ideals and values. It is neither bought, nor sold, nor can it ever be defeated," Berisha said.
The Democratic Party Chairman also said that the Democrats faced a difficult political period, but chose to continue the battle to defend their pluralism and values.
According to him, despite efforts to isolate and weaken it, the Democratic Party managed to survive and maintain the support of its membership.
Berisha repeated the accusations against the government for using institutions against the opposition, claiming that leaders of opposition forces were targeted during the election year.
At the end of his speech, he thanked the supporters of the Democratic Party for their trust and endurance over the past few years, describing them as "guardians of political pluralism" and the values of freedom.
"I knew that fierce battles awaited us, but friends, in my political career and in life I have made mistakes. I have had a great advantage, from my youth until today, I have always maintained intact the belief that no one can escape the theory of error. That is why I have always tried to correct you, but I want to tell you today that I have never been wrong about one thing, I have never been wrong in my trust in you. I have never in my life, in the slightest doubt, placed my trust in you, your ideals, your dedication. That is why we embarked on a difficult journey together, at a critical moment, after we had made many efforts to strengthen pluralism, we also had our great achievements, a moment came when Rama decided as the morality, the platform of his regime, the morality and platform of his executioner fathers. He launched an attack to annihilate the DP, to transform it into a facade opposition, to buy it. But he was wrong. This party is not for the market, this party is for ideals, values. It is neither bought, nor sold, nor ever defeated. That is why we rose. We rose at a time when it seemed that we had both the earth and the sky against us. They imposed it on us, not because we wanted to, but among all, we chose to defend the truth. Bring to this hall guardians of political pluralism, undefeated guardians of the values of freedom and human dignity. The narco-dictator did everything to eliminate the DP, took away its seal, removed its name, tried all its financing and this alone changed it. He temporarily isolated it from the whole world. He continued the battle supported by the electoral mafia. In the electoral year, he arrested the leaders of the main opposition parties", Berisha said in his speech.
