Is the candidate who denies resigning a relative of the leader of the Weaving Initiative?
Adriatik Lapaj's decision to retain his mandate as an MP in Tirana seems to have brought him into conflict with Endri Shabani.
The latter expected to become an MP, also due to Lapaj's warning before the elections that if he did not receive more than 2 MPs, then he would not retain his mandate. If Lapaj surrendered the mandate, it would pass to Shabani.
But the leader of Albania Becomes seems to have changed his mind, as in several public appearances in recent weeks, he has given signals that he will accept the mandate.
" What I have in my hand is to work even on my birthday, to contribute a little. If two of those who see us say that Adriatic is right. If I didn't believe that Albania is being built, I would close it. I would leave the job I had, which is much better paid than the one I will go to, if I go. Why? To go to parliament as the only opposition, why? To go out and have everyone curse you for not being part of the system, why? We do this because we really believe it. I am a lawyer, I function on paper. Fier will be opened, maybe there will be two MPs ," said Lapaj.
He also proposed that Nisma Thurje and Shqipëria Bëhet merge into one party. However, this request was rejected by Endri Shabani, giving the first sign of discord between them.
However, the conflict seems to have reached another level, as signals have been given today that an attempt is being made to block the transfer of Lapaj's mandate. One of the candidates on the closed list in Tirana, Zeqir Kordhoni, has submitted a request to the CEC, requesting a letter of resignation, as he claims that he does not remember having signed such a thing.
" I, Zeqir Kordhoni, am a member of parliament for the 'Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet' party. I have learned that the 'Shqipëria Bëhet' party has sent a letter of resignation in my name. I would like to request a copy of it ," Kordhoni's letter reads.
But according to media information, Zeqir Kordhoni turns out to be a relative of Endri Shabani. Lapaj and Shabani decided to include family members on the lists, after securing their trust that they would resign. But it seems that the fact that Lapaj refused to pass the mandate to Shabani has made his relative come into play, and now it seems that a bargain is being sought.
" Adriatiku is bringing us a lot of trouble, sometimes I will go in and sometimes I will not. But I am not convinced what I will do. Adriatiku needs to sit down face to face with me and we can clarify this story. I worked 72 hours with him without going home and I am also disabled ," Zeqir Kordhoni told the media.
