The US Embassy in Tirana has announced that today, US Chargé d'Affaires Nancy VanHorn met with SPAK Head Altin Dumani and several of the dedicated prosecutors who are part of this institution.
VanHorn praised SPAK's cooperation in the United States' fight against international crime, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration.
She thanked Dumani for SPAK's courage and commitment to destroying criminal networks that threaten the security of the United States and Albania.
"Today, Chargé d'Affaires Nancy VanHorn met with SPAK Head Altin Dumani and several of the dedicated prosecutors who are part of this institution. Ms. VanHorn praised SPAK's cooperation in the United States' fight against international crime, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration and thanked Mr. Dumani for SPAK's courage and commitment to disrupting criminal networks that threaten the security of the United States and Albania. Meanwhile, a change has occurred regarding the SPAK budget.
In the 2026-2028 budget from the Rama government, a reduction in figures for justice and in particular for SPAK stands out. For the Special Prosecution Office, the budget will bill 18 million euros per year, from the 23 it has provided in recent years, which is expected to be reduced by 5 million euros.
