The KAS is discussing the claims of the candidate of the 'PD-ASHM' coalition, Aulon Kalaja, who ran on the open list in the Durrës District in the May 11 elections. Kalaja claims that his votes were manipulated, while another name from the open list of the DP was favored.
We are talking about former prosecutor Arjan Ndoj, who has received the mandate of deputy, ranking about 1 thousand votes more than Kalaja.
But in the arguments he presented to the KAS through his representative, Kalaja claims that in at least 9 polling centers there was manipulation of votes, by deducting his votes or by declaring them invalid. Meanwhile, in one polling center, 3 votes were added to Arjan Ndoji's, out of 12, 15 such votes were recorded in the minutes.
Candidate Kalaja has raised these claims based on video footage of the vote counting process, while demanding the opening of the ballot boxes and a recount and re-evaluation of the votes. Candidate Kalaja's request is also supported by one of the DP's allied parties in the May 11 elections.
"In one case, we have identified that 31 votes for candidate Arjan Ndoja appear on the screen and the minutes show 37 votes. There are also cases when votes have been removed and added to other candidates. We have them with minutes and time in 69 boxes that we have verified so far," said the legal representative of the DP candidate.
But member Ilir Rusmali asked for explanations as to whether this trend and verification led to the change in the result and the reasonable suspicion that Kalaja and others had their votes taken away in order to change the result. Kalaja himself stated that he had strong suspicions based on the evidence so far that there was a deviation in the result, so he requested not only the opening of the 69 boxes for which they submitted evidence, but also over 500 boxes in the Durrës region, in total.
The representative of the castle brought up Tirana as a precedent, where with only a few facts the decision to open all the boxes was made. KAS requested more concrete evidence regarding the figures and the trend confirming the change in the result.
Kalaja challenged the Commission, asking them that if they were given time, they themselves were ready to verify the footage they had taken with USB from over 500 ballot boxes at the voting centers and then submit it to them with "Timecode".
