Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku is running on an open list for the May 11 elections. Tabaku said that one of the reasons she was left on the open list was that she received the most votes and that way she could collect votes.
"To continue to represent them and to fight many other battles in the Assembly. I have spoken about the denunciations of corruption, the corrupt affairs that are being investigated today, I have fought battles for the good of the middle class. Maybe this could be the reason why I came out on the open list, because I came out with the most votes and I can be voted for. Today I am focused with my energies on the electoral campaign. I go door to door, I do not hold meetings in large halls, I hold meetings door to door ," Tabaku told "Report TV".
Tabaku declared that as long as he remains in politics, he will only run in the Tirana district.
"This is a past battle, a past discussion. For me, there is no discussion, as long as I am in politics, I will be an MP for Tirana. I have my political activity here, I do not consider myself able to go anywhere else for reasons of party representation. I have discussed national issues, but I have chosen my political representation in this city. I have been the most ardent denouncer of this government. 10 hours in the incinerators committee in front of the prime minister", said the MP.
Tabaku stated that the vote for other opposition parties that are not part of the "Alliance for a Greater Albania" coalition is a vote to favor those in power.
"I can say that today the DP, the united opposition with number 1 on the ballot, is the opposition offer where most of the allied forces have joined. The current system makes it possible for anyone who casts their vote outside the united opposition to favor the one in power ," she continued.
As for the open list race with Ilir Meta or the allied candidates, he does not see it as a competition within the type.
"I don't see a competition within the type. Meta has his electorate, Idrizi has his electorate, I and the representatives of the DP have not only the Democrats, but also the different strata. This system that is being tested for the first time, we will see what the results are in the end," emphasizes Tabaku.
