We are less than 2 hours away from the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States of America. The whole world has its eyes on it and there was no way Albanian politicians could escape such an event. Names like Lulzim Basha, Fatmir Mediu or Belind Këlliçi have pulled out all the stops to secure an invitation there.
Lulzim Basha seems to have infiltrated the premises of the ceremony, after holding several meetings. Of course, he caught up with some personalities, such as Richard Grenell, in the corridors for a photo.
“ It was a pleasure to speak with the Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions, Richard Grenell, during the special ceremony organized on the eve of President Trump’s inauguration. For Albanians, the US remains our ally and strategic partner. Strengthening cooperation and coordination with them is a major priority. American attention to the Western Balkans region is very important, especially due to the ongoing destabilizing tendencies by Russia, which uses its allies in Serbia and Republika Srpska, but also certain political actors in North Macedonia and Montenegro. I am convinced that President Trump and his team will firmly support our national priorities, including the conclusion of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and the acceleration of integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions ,” Basha writes.
Basha also met with Scott Bessent, President Trump's pick for the position of Treasury Secretary.
Mediu also shared a photo on social media: " Washington DC: President Trump's inauguration. The congressional meetings ended with the "Black Tie and Boots" Texas Ball, one of the most beautiful events during the preparations for the inauguration of American President Donald TRUMP. It was a pleasure to meet with the Director of the CIA, whom I have known for many years, John Ratcliffe, along with my friend Ismet Ismajli, a Pejani from Dallas, a family friend of John. We were also together this evening with Congressman Pete Sessions and his wife Karen, with whom we have been family friends for years ."
