Democratic Party MP, Luan Baçi, said that today, Sali Berisha has no rival for the leadership of the party, despite the fact that many inside may want to.
"For the referendum to elect the leader of the Democratic Party, Mr. Berisha, there was a general consensus among the Democrats. And when I speak of the Democrats, I speak of the Democrats who truly work for the Democratic Party, are in the Democratic Party, and we saw this in the electoral process, in the participation, and in the calmness that the referendum passed.
"We have all said that Mr. Sali Berisha is uncompetitive today in the Democratic Party and we don't have to blow them up anymore. As far as we saw, from the leaders within the Democratic Party, exponents of the Democratic Party, there was no ambition, even though everyone probably has the desire," said Baçi on A2 CNN.
Baçi added that now the DP must continue the process of renewing the National Council and prepare for the upcoming local elections, which will take place next year. According to him, the DP has all the possibilities to regain the Municipality of Tirana.
"For me it is not difficult at all. It is even easy enough, especially in the current situation that the municipality finds itself in, in the current situation that the Socialist Party finds itself in, with the mayor in prison, arrested for corruption. This favors us," said Baçi.
According to him, the DP should designate and make public the names of candidates in the local elections as soon as possible and not reveal them before the start of the campaign.
