The deputy of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Aliebeaj, has criticized the bill that will force medical students to work in the country for up to 5 years and then receive a diploma.
He said that a study should be done on this initiative, what it will bring, and whether it will push students to choose private universities.
"If you don't equip the doctor with a diploma, how sure are you that if he runs away without a diploma, but only runs away with a list of grades, they can get it. Have you done a study? How much can this decision hold you back?! Do you have an answer? I agree that the purpose of the bill is well-intentioned for the population, but that the doctors you have chosen are disproportionate. You have chosen the kulach and the sausage. When you say; I don't give the diploma, if you don't continue to give the service for 3-5 years in a row.
To date, those who have fled, have you been offered a job in the health system in the country? Is there a statistic or not?! By imposing such a restriction, students who dream of this branch, is it perhaps a tool which, being approved so quickly, before the exams, can penalize those who want to continue in medicine, go and follow it in universities private. That those who study in the state are penalized," said the MP.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, repeated several times the fact that the government will not force any student to sign this decision, while emphasizing that those who will not accept, must pay the cost.
"I can't accept the word "cuckold" or "penalty". No student is required to have a diploma. Whoever signs and agrees to be a part of this draft law will be awarded the diploma. Our goal is not to get your money back. We don't force it. No student will be forced. Those who are in the intermediate years will choose for themselves to work 2-3 years, or else get the degree and pay the cost. He has no reason to be favored by Albanian taxpayers, he must pay the cost", she said.
