
The counting of votes has started in the Municipality of Kukës. Today, citizens headed to the ballot boxes to elect the new mayor after the sexual scandal of Safet Gjic.
In the first numbered boxes, the candidate of Baške Fitomjem Emri Vata was initially in advantage in front of the socialist candidate Albert Halilaj.
The first box belonging to the village of Arrë resulted in 67 voters voting for the candidate of the Socialist Party, Albert Halili, while 82 voters voted for the opposition candidate, Emri Vata.
Even in the second box, Vata was at the advantage. In total, in the two counted boxes, Vata has 166 votes, while Halilaj has 118 votes.
But in the other two boxes, the SP candidate took the lead. In the 4 counted boxes, Halilaj has 342 votes, while Vata has 297 votes. So we have a close race between them.
Counting started over 4 hours late. It was chief commissioner Celibashi who informed that the parties had not sent commissioners.
" After the completion of the delivery of all ballot boxes and their 100% regular acceptance by KZAZ Kukës, CEC Albania calls on the electoral subjects that have the right to appoint members of the Vote Counting Groups to act without wasting time and continue with the legal obligation of counting votes in an uninterrupted manner ", writes Celibashi.
