Former member of the Socialist Party Presidency, Arben Malaj, has made a strong statement, saying that a minister secretly drank coffee with Edi Rama with a stranger.
He made this statement during a television interview, where he spoke about how certain political contacts are developed.
Malaj explained that in this case the foreign person was not an ambassador, but part of the staff of a foreign structure. According to him, such meetings have also occurred in the past, when a message had to be conveyed through ministers who had direct access to the prime minister.
He stressed that meetings with foreign representatives should not be avoided, but should not be conducted in secret. According to him, strategic relations should bring mutual benefits, with an emphasis on Albania's interests due to the country's level of economic, political and social development.
Malaj refused to identify the minister who, according to him, organized the meeting, explaining that he has decided not to get involved in debates related to specific names.
"He was a staff, not an ambassador. Even in our time, it was done, when a message had to be conveyed, ministers who were close to the prime minister would sit down. Look, we shouldn't be afraid to sit down, but we don't have to sit down secretly, in the end, strategic partnerships are mutually beneficial, but we should benefit more because of the status of economic, political and social development. I have a compromise with myself, I don't deal with names", Malaj said on the show "Off the Record".
