Kalaja explained that he has "seriously" resigned from the DP, but has continued to fight within the structures for respect for the statute.
Adriana Kalaja reacted after Endri Shabani was sworn in as the Ombudsman in Parliament, saying that the selection process was illegal and that she will pursue the matter through criminal and constitutional channels.
Kalaja stated that, despite her non-election, she has exercised and will exercise the "de-facto" mission of protecting citizens.
According to her, it is now proven that "Albania is run by a criminal organization," while warning that there will be new developments regarding this issue in the future.
Asked about her relationship with the Democratic Party, Kalaja explained that she has resigned "seriously" from the DP, but has continued to fight within the structures for respect for the statute. She expressed herself open to a return, but not without conditions. According to her, the DP must first reflect on the implementation of the statute and return to the promises of the "first rostrum".
" We do not need second or other platforms, but keeping promises. We cannot be serious about protecting the country's Constitution if we do not protect the party's statute, which is our constitution ," she emphasized to News24.
Kalaja also highlighted that her political and public engagement has had personal and family costs, adding that her children have resigned from their jobs because they could not continue working in institutions that she had publicly denounced.
