Ilir Alimehmeti strongly believes that the Democratic Party should participate in the elections for the mayor of Tirana. Ilir Alimehmeti: I entered the 2022 primaries to enter the race, of course the ambition exists, otherwise why would I enter? It's out of the question.

Ilir Alimehmeti: No, we have a situation that we will see because there are some constitutional and legal issues here. There will be questions, there will be no elections, most likely there will be, but it is not so certain because there is a time for appeal Erion Veliaj, 15 days, there are some elements to be passed. I think there will be elections, the DP should be included. But we must keep something in mind. What kind of elections are they, they are partial elections, their mandate would be reduced by a year and two months, they are elections not with a municipal council because the municipal council's mandate continues until 2027 and in one year you cannot offer a development program in this regard because everything has been approved now, budget, medium-term program, strategy, plans. Here, the mandate of the DP candidate if he wins the Tirana municipality is to return the municipality to legitimacy and be convinced, there are hundreds of democrats who can do it. On the other hand, implementing a 4-year project is where I see myself most, teamwork is where I see myself most, I am not in the team to compete just because I want this chair. I am interested in understanding the larger mission and vision. In 2027, just a little over a year later, we will have elections in 61 municipalities for a full mandate with all municipal councils, it is a more comprehensive and larger competition.
