Prime Minister Edi Rama was involved in a debate with a resident of Zvërnec during a meeting held in the area, where the focus of the discussions was the issue of land ownership and the legal processes related to them.
During the conversation, a citizen claimed that his property was not returned and that it was given to another person in 2009. He requested that there be no interference in the matter and that the decision-making be left solely to the court.
For his part, Rama said that the government does not have the authority to certify ownership and that any claim must be resolved through relevant institutions and court decisions.
The debate became tense when the citizen mentioned 2009 as the moment when, in his opinion, the property was given away unfairly. The Prime Minister responded with irony:
"In 2009, I had black hair, I didn't have this much. Let's not have a pointless debate," Rama said.
Earlier during the discussion, the head of government had addressed the citizen with the question: "Who are you talking to?", while emphasizing that a property can only be blocked through legal procedures and court decisions.
Rama: If in this process, you who say you are in court, will receive a letter from the court stating that you are the legitimate heirs, you will have access to that fund and you will receive the money. I am not a certifier of any property, I do not have the authority.
Debate:
Citizen: We ask that there be no intervention except by the court.
Rama: Please, who are you talking to?
Citizen: I'm explaining myself.
Rama: Who are you talking to?! Not as prime minister. If I have the courage to come before you.
The citizen continues speaking.
Rama: These people from Vlora have a habit of not letting go of the microphone.
Citizen: The property is not returned to the owner. It was given to someone in 2009.
Rama: When did he return? Please tell me this.
Citizen: In 2009.
Rama: Why are you bringing us into this? In 2009, I had black hair, I didn't have this much. Let's not have a pointless debate.
Citizen: I know better than that.
Rama: You're from Vlora, you don't know what a bull is. I'm not avoiding the truth. A property is only blocked with certainty of ignorance. What does it matter that you're in court?
