The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has asked State Police officers not to implement orders that, according to him, violate citizens during protests.
During a speech held this Monday in Tirana, Berisha called on police officers to abide by the law and not be influenced by their leaders. He mentioned senior police leaders by name and invited officers not to follow their orders.
Berisha stated that any interference with citizens, including young people participating in protests, will bring a reaction. He emphasized that responsibility for actions during public gatherings falls on those who give and carry out orders.
"You gather here in the name of the ideals of freedom, human and national dignity. A salute to all those who filled the streets in our peaceful uprising. The youth were the force, the energy, and became the terror of the narco-regime on February 10. Today I tell you that it is a great chance of your life to begin your political life in defense of your country. It is your great chance, a mission of your life that you will feel proud of.
I condemn the violence, the physical and psychological terror that was exercised in the police stations against the youth, the teenagers, the hysteria in the parliament of the socialist thieves. I warn the police that no mistreatment of citizens and youth will be tolerated. I tell the officer who presented herself as a psychologist to the arrested teenagers. We will find out who the hell you are, the law will be very strict on you. To go in a uniform of deception, you must not forget that you are a sister, a mother, a wife. You have nothing in common with the criminals Proda and Sokol Bizhga, no one should follow their orders , "said Berisha.
