Gellért Jászai, one of the people who became rich during the Viktor Orbán era, is moving rapidly in the region after losing power in Hungary. After the secret meeting with Edi Rama in Tirana, he also negotiated with the new Montenegrin prime minister on the expansion of digital infrastructure.
Viktor Orban's loss of power in Hungary appears to have set in motion the economic network he has built over the years.
One of the most powerful men in this scheme, businessman Gellért Jászai, is attempting to shift and expand influence in the Western Balkans, using Albania and Montenegro as a new base for strategic investments.
Jászai, the main shareholder of the 4iG group and the owner of "One Albania", has held meetings in Tirana and Podgorica in the past few days for major projects in telecommunications, "Data Centers" and digital infrastructure.
His moves come at a critical moment for 4iG in Hungary. New Prime Minister Peter Magyar has threatened audits, investigations and the termination of state contracts for companies that were empowered during the Orban years through political connections and state favors.
Among them is 4iG, the company that in just a few years turned from a modest business into a telecommunications giant worth billions of euros.
According to lists published in Hungary for 2025, Gellért Jászai ranks among the 10 richest people in the country, with a fortune estimated at around 264 billion Hungarian forints, a fortune built during the period when Orban controlled power.
In this new political climate in Budapest, the Balkans seem to be becoming the new expansion ground for the people close to the former Hungarian Prime Minister, in the hope that millions will be saved.
Jászai initially appeared in Tirana, where he held a low-key meeting with Edi Rama. The meeting was not made public by the Albanian government, and details emerged only through Hungarian media and statements by the businessman himself.
According to 4iG, the expansion of "One Albania", investments in "Data Centers" and the strategic project "2EAGLE", the submarine cable that aims to connect Egypt with Albania and then with Europe, were discussed with Rama.
In practice, this would give the Hungarian group control over a significant portion of the data transmission corridors in the Mediterranean and the Balkans.
But immediately after Tirana, Jászai moved to Podgorica. There he held negotiations with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, on the expansion of “One Montenegro” and new digital infrastructure projects.

4iG itself stated that Montenegro remains the group's "strategic partner" in the Western Balkans and that the company aims to play a long-term role in modernizing networks and next-generation technologies.
Essentially, a new axis of Hungarian digital influence is being created in the region, with Albania and Montenegro serving as gateways for the expansion of a company that is facing political and financial risk in Hungary following the change of power.
While in Budapest there is talk of investigations and the collapse of the economic model built during the Orban era, in the Balkans his people are negotiating control over telecommunications, data centers and the region's strategic digital infrastructure. / Pamphlet
